Bio:
Rizky is an Indonesian filmmaker, ethnographer, and programmer whose work explores alternative queer aesthetics and methodologies as a means to escape regimes of control and cultivate new forms of living otherwise. Rizky was a 2021 Chevening scholar and a graduate of MA in Visual Anthropology at the Goldsmiths University of London. In his early retirement era in Bali, Rizky co-runs queer film collective QAMERAD.

Context:
Rizky got in touch with the platform through Goldsmiths University network and joined the collective after having his film and workshop featured at the film festival.

2025: Rizky’s workshop Restaging Queer Archive as Collective Care was hosted at KONTEKST Film Fest: ARCHIVE together with the screening of his film House of R3nc0ng.

Restaging Queer Archive as Collective Care (2025)

Workshop & film screening

Through discussion of various texts and films, this workshop explores alternative praxis and methodologies that materialise collective care by restaging violent systems of queer representation/archive and weaponizing the film projector. Accompanied by a screening of Rizky’s film House of R3nc0ng and discussion of Bali-based film collective QAMERAD.

Queers Shoot Back! (2023)

A collection of essays examining queer texts, reflecting on the pitfalls of identity politics, and hypothesising on what it takes to steer clear of reproducing the violence of everyday life. Written throughout Rizky’s MA Visual Anthropology degree at Goldsmiths, University of London. Each book comes with a manifesto poster.

A performance film made in collaboration with the survivors of anti-trans violence in Indonesia, who escape state surveillance and dive into their fantasy to reclaim their image.
